Four Ways Cleaning Air Ducts Improves Work for Your Employees

Want to make your office more appealing to your employees? Well, in lieu of (or in addition to) serving free food every day and giving everyone raises, there are other things you can do, and cleaning the ducts of your HVAC system is certainly on the list. Here's how duct cleaning can improve life for your employees and ultimately your business.

1. Boosting air quality can boost worker quality.

Dirty HVAC ducts spread dust and germs throughout your office, and this degrades the air quality of your space. Poor air quality has been linked to a number of worker issues, particularly reducing attention span and productivity. Some estimates claim that poor indoor air quality costs businesses billions of dollars in lost productivity.

The air ducts are not the only contributor to the air quality in your office. Old carpets and printers that emit VOCs can reduce the air quality in your office. However, cleaning the dirty ducts first will help eliminate some of these particulates.

2. Cleaning air ducts reduces dust and allergens.

In addition to the overall effect air quality has on workers, there are special considerations to keep in mind for people who suffer from allergies. Air ducts tend to harbour a lot of dust. Rat droppings, pet dander (from service dogs or other animals who visit your office) and other debris can also build up in your air ducts. When you have the ducts professionally cleaned, however, you remove these allergens, making work more comfortable and possibly reducing the number of days taken for illness among your employees.

3. Saving money on energy bills allows you to give employees more perks.

Dirty and clogged air ducts can make your HVAC system work harder than it needs to. As a result, if you clean your air ducts, your system may run more efficiently. That can save your office money on energy bills. If you are focused on worker satisfaction, you may redirect that money into small perks for your employees. Free coffee, cash bonuses and catered lunches every Friday are all ideas to consider.

4. Cleaning air ducts can reduce odours.

Finally, bad odours may be pouring out of the air ducts of your HVAC system. These odours may come from chemicals, dead animals or a range of other culprits. Luckily, when you clean the ducts, you eliminate these odours, also making work more pleasant for your employees.

Ventilation: The Overlooked Part of HVAC and Other Blogs

When people hear HVAC, they often think only of heating and cooling, and they forget about the "v" which stands for ventilation. Having the right level of ventilation in your home or business keeps humidity levels in check, prevents unwanted condensation, and improves the heating and cooling features of your system. Hello and welcome to my blog. My name is Matthew, and I used to work in the HVAC industry. About a decade ago, I began focusing on my carpentry business, but I still am really interested in the science and mechanics involved in HVAC, so I decided to start a blog. In this blog, I am going to explore HVAC from a range of angles, and I hope that you have fun reading my posts. Thank you.
